Designed to bring the taste of championship BBQ to Danville, KY on November 4-5, 2011, the Kentucky BBQ Festival is also an event that needs an effective website to reach the hoards of BBQ lovers throughout the region and across the country. As one of the organizers of the event, I immediately thought WordPress was the perfect solution.

BBQ is a passion for it’s cooks and it’s followers and we needed a website that reflected that and one that could be built on in the future. WordPress can handle a large number of pages, an infinite number of posts, and more than one of us can post or update items, photos and video on the site. And since Orange Cat Productions has extensive experience setting up WordPress sites, it was a “no-brainer.”

1st Choice Auction needed a website that could be updated easily with information about their upcoming auctions. They also needed a simple way to upload and publish individual photos and a photo gallery for the auctions.

Again, we built 1stChoiceAuction.com on the WordPress Blogging Platform to provide a simple way for the client to keep the website updated. The auctions change frequently and having the ability to keep the site up-to-date was an important consideration.

The website also required a custom template (theme) that used the 1st Choice logo and colors. This was accomplished in an efficient and very cost-effective manner.

Search Engine Friendly (SEF) URLs were enabled in order to provide meaningful page URLs throughout the site – better for search engines to index and easier for visitors to remember.

This site required special care to be taken when converting the site from the Joomla Content Management System (CMS) to WordPress to preserve existing URLs and the Search Engine ranking tha went with them.

Automated backup of vital data is performed automatically. SEO-enhancement plugins and automatic Google sitemapping are included.

DeepSkyRanch.com needed a website that would help them promote the ranch in the Kiowa Valley of New Mexico as a unique outdoors experience and to polish their credentials as a first-rate deep sky location.

Go back in time and walk the Kiowa tribal hunting and camping grounds: connect intimately with the earth and sky. Be alive. Be loved and accepted. Be true and whole.

That is the unique experience at Kiowa Valley Ranch Camp. With the fast pace and stresses of life, it is truly remarkable when you can slow down and enjoy all things simple.

DeepSkyRanch.com was built on the WordPress Blogging Platform to provide a simple way for the client to keep the website updated. A photo slideshow was added to the home page and to the sidebar of interior pages.

A very simple PayPal shopping cart was added to allow Kiowa Valley Ranch Camp to feature art by Tunde Darvay and eventually sell other products directly from the website. Payment for reservations is also handled via PayPal.
